Isla had her 6 month checkup this last week. She is smaller than her sister was at this age. Weighing only 13.5 pounds, putting her in the fifth percentile. 33rd percentile for height and 18th percentile for head. But, what she lacks in height and weight, she makes up for with abilities! She is a full-fledged crawler, now. She had been rocking on her hands and knees since the beginning of October, and on Halloween, she figured out to move her hands. She is never where I put her down at, now. She is loving being mobile. She loves that she can get to her sissy and mama now on her own.
This last week, she has also tried pulling herself up on things. This mostly ends up with a tumble and tears. But, after a quick hug, she is usually back to trying it again. Did I mention that she is growing up way too fast?!
She loves her sissy and laughs anytime Sahara comes up to play or talk to her. Isla's nickname is Bubble Gum, and loves it when Sahara says it in a deep voice to her. She is extremely ticklish, tummy, belly, neck, feet. She loves interaction and hates to be by herself for more than 5 minutes. Good thing she already has a playmate. She loves to swing and jump.
Food wise, she has had bananas, peaches, prunes, mashed potatoes, squash, avocado, and baby cereal. The only problem we have had is with the cereal. She vomits multiple times afterwards, so we haven't tried it again, and probably won't for a little while longer.
Isla babbles, and loves blowing raspberries. She and Sahara love to blow raspberries to each other. And, she thinks sneezing is hilarious.
Car rides are horrendous. For all of us. Isla begins screaming as soon as we set her in the car seat. The screaming will last anywhere from the entire ride to 10-15 minutes until she falls asleep from exhaustion. She really only likes to be held. All.the.time.
She doesn't really do well sleeping on her own, either. She likes to sleep on top of me, or right next to me, on her tummy, in our bed. She will sleep for about 5-6 hours at night before needing a smackeral. Sometimes, it's a little shorter.
Nap times vary. She will usually take a morning nap that lasts for about an 1-1 1/2. And, then throughout the day, she catnaps. Half hour here, a half hour there. She's a tad needy. Just a bit high maintenance.
But, with this face, she totally gets away with it. She is so worth it. Every.bit.of.it.
Isla, you are a treasure. You will never know how much joy you have brought to your daddy's and my heart. We love you to the moon and back.
"You make me happy when skies are gray."
Oh so sweet! Happy half birthday sweet little Isla!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet girl! I can't believe these kids are already six months old! I can't believe she is full on crawling! Buckley has been scooting to get toys but no rocking so hopefully I have a bit more time before he is all over the place! Don't you love watching your girls interact? It's seriously the best!
ReplyDeleteShe is so precious! She has the most beautiful eyes! I too wish I could slow things down sometimes, it feels as though things are going so fast that I am going to miss things/ or not remember them because there wasw so much going on at once.
