Random Tuesday

So, I was listening to the radio the other day, and the hosts were talking about clowns. Apparently, they are the scariest thing out there. Can anyone tell me why?!? What am I missing? Why are they so scary?!
(ok, this picture might be a little convincing that they are a bit much...)

My idea is that someone thought it was funny to say they were scary, and people have now just convinced themselves that they should be scared of them. Dumb...

Another thing, why do people believe in aliens? There's never been anything to even remotely give the idea that there are living creatures on another planet. Again, pretty sure someone just made it up to scare the kids to stay in bed, and it just caught on...

Come on, someone really believes these things exist? Who decided they should look like this? And, the whole UFO thing is just ridiculous.

Something else that I don't get...how can anyone spend 60 bucks on a t-shirt and think that's affordable?!? (I guess you can all see how my budget plays out in this category. Can anyone say, Ross?)

What do you think is bizarre? Are you one of those people that think clowns are scary, or believe in aliens, or can spend that much money on a shirt without feeling sick to your stomach?

  1. I would like to respond to your what we like to call the "wrong opinions". Clowns ARE ridiculously scary. I would even say in the horror catagory. Have you SEEN the size of their SHOES. What mother could afford to keep them in shoes??? Now, on to aliens. OF COURSE they exist. Suffice it to say I live with them on a daily basis and I should send pictures so that people would know what they REALLY look like. It's frightening!!!! Lastly, $60.00 for a tee-shirt. A mere PITTANCE I say! Do you know how much those clown's shoes COST???!!!!

  2. I definitely think that clowns are scary. Just as Mickey Mouse scared me as a little kid (a guy dressed up in a crazy costume).

But there are additional reasons. Many horror films use the clown as a disarming figure. A clown is supposed to be a symbol of childlike wonder and joy. Hence, if you make your slasher dress up like a clown in order to gain access to children, it's the ultimate wolf in sheep's clothing.

Proof of point: John Wayne Gacy. If you don't know who he is, he was a serial killer who raped and murdered at least 33 boys and buried them in his crawlspace. He was known as the "Killer Clown" because he dressed up as a clown to entertain children — part of his disarming demeanor. If that isn't scary, I don't know what is. I can't think of a clown without thinking of Gacy.

  3. I don't think clowns are scary, nor do I think a $60.00 t-shirt is a deal. But Aliens? I'm not quite sure of. I'm scared of more realistic conventional things. Like cancer, car accidents. Those types of things. Things that are silly or ridiculous to me. People who over-react about things. I can't think of an example but yet I see things every day.
