I have figured out a solution to my problem...
The problem: Sahara still does not go to bed easily. Sometimes it's easy because she will fall asleep when she nurses, but other times she simply won't fall asleep; or she will wake up as soon as I put her down. Then, I choose which technique I will use that night. Either, I will stay there and hold her hand until she is asleep, and sneak out very quietly, praying all the while that I don't step on the creaky board that is between the crib and the door. Or, I snuggle her in, kiss her goodnight, and let her cry until she passes out from exhaustion. This choice is not my favorite. In fact, I hate it. Even writing it makes me sound like a horrible mother. But, sometimes I just don't have the patience, or the back, to drape myself over her crib for 20 minutes to get her to fall asleep.
The solution: Create a wax model of myself! This way I could just prop it up next to her crib, leaving one hand in the crib, (I would make the fingers wide enough for her to grasp one or two), and as long as she doesn't use the finger as a teething ring, I think it would work perfectly! I might have to put one of those heating packs on the hand so that it doesn't feel cold, but other than that, it could work!
Although, this solution now creates another problem...I don't have the supplies, (nor the skill) for such a project. If only I could get a hold of the artist who made all the wax models for the museum down in California...Hmmmm...perhaps clay would work?!?
