Sahara's Birthday!

Well, my baby, you are four! Growing up too fast for this Mama. I thought we talked about this? You were going to slow down your growing and stay my little baby for forever? But, instead you are getting taller, and growing out of everything you own all too soon.

Your favorite things to do are play dress up, paint your own nails, and fix us tea parties. You are very good at pouring tea and doing your own nails. You love to help me in the kitchen, measuring ingredients and mixing. Your favorite things to make are pancakes, cookies, cakes, and waffles.

This year was your second year at VBS and you loved it. You kept checking with me on the way there that I was going to drop you off and then go. You did not want me anywhere near, Miss Grown Up! You were so excited to go to school by yourself and act like a big girl. You love to listen to the songs in the car and do the hand motions to every one. You have even taught Isla some of them and it is so fun to watch you both.

You are such a joy. You crack us up constantly and surprise us with your ability to make connections on all sorts of levels. Just last night you found a pea that was more a yellow brown than green and fished it out of the bowl so that nobody would eat it. You were convinced, and still are convinced that it was poison. Your little mind doesn't keep anything inside. Every thought that comes into it, comes right out of your mouth. There is no need to guess what you are thinking, you tell us constantly.

You are the best big sister there has ever been. And, I am not even joking. You watch over Little Sis so carefully. To this day, you have never hurt her on purpose nor retaliated when she has bullied you. And, let's face it, she does that regularly. You are quick to hug her and play with each other with ease. You have no idea what you girls do to my heart. Just to hear your giggles and screeches, and to look back in the car just to see that you girls are holding hands makes me the happiest mama on earth. You have such a sweet heart.

You told me a couple nights ago that you didn't choose to buy two frogs from the pet store because another little girl might come in looking for a frog and then cry if there were none left. So you only bought one. Melt my heart. You are always thinking of others and are very quick to comfort them when needed.

You have dried both Daddy's and my tears when you saw us cry over Arrayah and then over Daddy's mama at the funeral. You are so caring and it makes me so proud to see what a sweet girl you are becoming. You are quick to pray at meals and love learning about God.

We love you so much, Sahara. You are our sweet first born that changed our world for the better. Happy birthday, Love!
XOXO, Mama and Daddy
