10 Months Old

How can she be 10 months already? Is it possible that 10 months have already gone by since the first day I saw her sweet, tiny face come into the world? I wish I could slow time down, but then again, the more time that goes by, the happier she becomes...so, maybe we will let it tick on for a teeny tiny bit longer. :)

Right now, Isla can say Mama, Dada, I think she tries to say Sissy, and say mmmmm every time she eats something she likes. And, there is not much that she doesn't like. She is a great eater and loves to feed herself.

She is starting to stand by herself, and can stand now for a full minute or more without falling. She tried to take a step yesterday, but fell as soon as she tried. So, I think within the next month, she will probably be walking!

Isla has quite the temper, and is showing us just how much of a drama queen she is. She gets really upset if Sahara takes something away from her, or Ja or I tell her no. She throws herself backwards and cries or screams. Even if Sahara takes something out of her hands and has to give it back because Isla had it first, she will throw herself back and cry, even though it is being held out to her right in front of her face. It makes me a bit nervous for the future, but right now, it is so funny and pretty much adorable. Just the other day, Sahara and Isla wanted the same thing, and Ja and I saw just how unafraid Isla is of a fight. She got right up into Sahara's face and yelled while trying to grab the object out of her hand. I never thought it would be so cute or funny to see the two of them 'fight'.

Isla gives kisses now, when you ask for a kiss and pucker up with a kissy noise. She gives a big, slobbery, open mouth kiss. I love it.

She loves to brush her teeth, and screams when the toothbrush gets taken away. Even if she has been brushing for half an hour. Literally half an hour. She has 2 teeth on bottom, and 4 teeth on top with a couple more popping through.

Serious toothbrushing going on here.

At her 9 month check up, Isla was in the 5% for height and 1% for weight. She is a lot smaller than Sahara was at this age. I wonder how similar in height and weight they will end up being. With the way Isla eats, and the way Sahara doesn't ever eat, they might be the same weight in just a few months!

Isla is showing us more just how silly she is. She does this strange thing where she just falls backward. She will be playing and all of a sudden, just throw her head back and stay there for 10-15 seconds. It's so weird, but so funny to watch! It's funny to see such a tiny baby have such a big personality!
Throwing herself backward, just hangin' out.

For a while now, Isla has started pointing. Pointing at what she wants or if she sees us across the room, she will point at us. It is so adorable. I love to see her tiny, chubby finger with the dents in between every knuckle stick out at me. She waits until I come and touch her pointer finger with my pointer finger and then she smiles a huge, toothy grin. And, most of the time, when she gets really excited, she smiles so big and snorts. Her smiles look so mischievous with all of her teeth and the gleam she gets in her eyes.

Toothy Grin
Isla loves to climb anything and everything. She constantly is trying to climb and is a little scary since I will turn my back for seriously a minute, and when I look at her again, she will be on top of something. The dishwasher if it's open, the sit 'n spin, the couch if the cushions are off. That is the newest game around here that both girls love to play. They take the cushions off and place them right next to the couch and then climb up the cushions onto the couch and jump. And jump. And jump. They both laugh like crazy and it is so fun to watch.

The girls are playing so much more together these days, and it absolutely melts my heart to watch and see. They get along really well, most of the time. Sahara is exactly the big sister we knew she was going to be, and it makes us so proud of her. It seems like our hearts fall in love with both of these girls every day. I love the way Sahara uses a tiny squeaky voice to talk to Isla. I love how much Isla laughs when Sahara does something goofy, a big belly laugh. I love how they will snuggle together on the couch. I cannot imagine my life without these two silly, girly, funny ladies. They make my day so much brighter. My heart is completely overflowing.
