Birthday Girl!

Well, I know it's days after, but a late post is better than no post. :)

July 1st was the big day, and did we have a party! We had about 30 plus people over and barbecued. I made the birthday girl a tutu and t-shirt to wear, which both turned out much better than you are probably imagining in your head right now! The tutu was hot pink and black to match the colors of the party with a big hot pink with black polka dot ribbon and bow in the back. And, the t-shirt, well, I cheated and just did iron-ons, so the front had a giant cupcake, and the back said, 'Eat Cake.' She was adorable!

Sahara is getting better with her walking, so she was toddling around from one room to the next and from one person's leg to the the next. She loved her cake, and dove right in. I mean, it was not her first piece, which might make me a horrible mother considering she has had cake pretty much as soon as she could eat solids!, but whatever. You only live once! :) We will just keep that from her pediatrician...

My parents got her a tiny white picnic table that she loves! She crawls up on the seat and sits there, eating, and dangling her legs. And, she also thinks it's hilarious to sit underneath it and peek her head out the side. Ja's folks got her a big tent that she loves to play inside of. It has some peek holes on the side that she finds funny to see through. We stuck a ton of toys and books in there, so she crawls in and plays. I love it when I hear her laughing in there by herself!
She got a load of new books which I am estastic about since I am sick of the ones we have been reading for so long now. She also got way cute clothes, bath toys, beach towel, and pool. Talk about spoiled! :)

On a whole other note, we are done with the breastfeeding. I think I am pretty happy about that. I thought it was going to be a lot more difficult to wean her, but as soon as she took one sip of whole milk, she loved it. She drinks it all the time, and she gets a lot more considering I only made about maybe 2 ounces by the end. So, it's for the best, I think. I'm a little sad, only because it means she is no longer a tiny baby that needs me in that way. Sure, she still needs me, but just in different ways, ya know? I will say, it's a lot easier to pile her in the car in the morning to church and just give her a bottle of milk! Sad to say, though, it has not made us any earlier to church...we are still always late!

  1. Happy 1st birthday!!!! How fun. It sounds like you all had a great time. I love that she loves her milk so much. That probably made stopping so much easier for you :)
