Things are in full Christmas swing over here, and I am loving it! We went and chose our tree yesterday with some friends and their little girl who is a year younger than Sahara. We had such a fun time and although the whole time Sahara declared she did not want a tree, after decorating it today, she has, indeed, fallen in love with having a tree in our house. A tree that basically takes up our entire house! It's amazing how much smaller a tree tends to look out in the wilderness. But, despite taking up so much space in our tiny house, it looks so cozy and Christmas-y.
I haven't done much shopping yet. I did get Sahara the one thing that she has been asking Santa for, a Dora umbrella. She saw it a while back and has been talking about it ever since. This is the first year that Sahara has truly started to understand what is going on and is so excited for Christmas. I love watching everything through her eyes. She gets so excited over any tiny thing, and it makes Christmas time so much more fun and special.
In new baby news, I am now 20 weeks-half way there! I thought it was going slow at first, and now, I think that it's going by so quickly. Ja and I came up with a name that we love! After Sahara Jane, and Arrayah Lovie, I thought I would never come up with another girl's name that I love just as much, but we did! Isla Lennox. It's not that popular of a name, I guess a little more common than our other girls' names, but it's never been in the top 100 names, so I think we're good. :) We chose her name mostly for the sound of it, not the meaning. I wanted a girl's name that ended in an 'ah' sound like Sahara and Arrayah's and I have loved Isla for a while now. Ja came around to it, and has come to really like it. The middle name we have changed a few times. It's gone from Gwendolyn to Paisley, and after finding out we were having another girl, Ja nixed both those names. We looked at names and both feel in love with Lennox. So there ya have it. I can't wait to meet the newest little lady.
This coming week is the week I have decided to cut out pacifiers. We shall see how this goes. I want to do it before Isla comes home, and Ja wants to do it while he is not in school. So that means it's dooms week over here soon. I am thinking that the first 3 days will be the hardest. If we can make it through those, then I think we are in the clear. I told Sahara she could chose a toy, and she began talking about build a bear. We might have a deal. Let's hope this works!
As soon as I get the pictures from the tree farm, I'll post them.
I love her name!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the pacifier goes I keep hearing that cutting the ends off of them and saying they are broken works really well. I have also heard of parents telling their little one that a littler baby needs them more and we must donate them (I wouldn't say the new baby or she may resent her) or that there is a binky fairy that will come and take the binkies and leave a toy in their place. Good luck!!
What a great name!!!! WE never had a real attachment to binkies around here, so I can't offer any advice, but I will take some when I have to break Preston of the habit. He LOVES his binkie:-) The only think I wonder is if you should maybe use a different type of pacifier all together for the new baby so Sahara doesn't think they were given to the new baby? Can't wait to see pics of your tree. That happened to us last year, we have a big living room so we got a big tree. The crazy thing was taller than me when it was laying on its side!!!!
